Hong Kong Disneyland

On 24 March 2014, Disney organised the Cast Fun Run 2014 and for every kilometer a Disney staff completed, Disney would donate one Disney park ticket to the Children's Kidney Fund. Each step by the Disney's staff was surely a meaningful one.

Thanks to the kind support of Disney and its staff who participated wholeheartedly in the run and we were grateful to become the beneficiary of a substantial amount of complimentary Disney park tickets. We were therefore able to organise fun filled days at the Disneyland for our young patients and their families to enjoy the magical moment in the park which embraced us with warmth and happiness. Our first visit to the Disneyland was on 1 June 2014 and we were also delighted to have additional subsidies obtained from the Partnership Fund of the Social Welfare Department for transport and meal allowances. We all had a wonderful time together, and to ensure that we will experience more "magical moments", we will be planning our next visit to the Disneyland in the coming months!

It is undoubtedly effortless for a healthy person to run, however for our young patients, it requires a lot of encouragement and hard work as they need to undergo renal dialysis diligently at all time. For the fortunate ones who managed to have their kidney transplanted, the expenses are still very costly for the parents and families to pay for, particularly the anti-rejection drugs and other post treatments. They apparently do not have spare time and extra money to take their kids out for leisure and extra-curricular activities, needless to say for taking care of their psychosocial development. It certainly requires a lot of effort for every step they run.
