Travelling Allowance for Haemodialysis Treatment

Patients requiring haemodialysis treatment may have to travel to the hospital 2-3 times per week. If they live far away from the hospital, the regular travelling expenses may create considerable financial pressure to the family.

For children patients travelling by public transport which includes bus, MTR and minibus, can be escorted by a parent/guardian whose travelling cost will also be subsidized, with maximum of HK$5,000 per calendar year. For those patients travelling by taxi, the maximum of HK$10,000 per calendar year will be subsidized. Means test on family income is required, with recommendation from both the attending doctor and medical social worker.
